Good Cherry, Bad Cherry

Today was long, to say the least. I spent nine and 1/2 hours in an orchard sorting cherries...My back hurts, my feet hurt, and did I say that my back hurts? Anyways, today was very long.

Overall the guys aren't so bad. I know most of them already. But the new guys are getting picked on. *shakes head* The newest guy is very nice and willing to help, but is slow. Not mentally slow, but physically. They were picking up empties and the person driving the tractor sent the newbie over three rows of trees to pick up a stack of empties. There was also talk of tying him to a tree. I sort of feel sorry for him. Not to mention that I think he is cute. Well so does the 11 year old I'm watching. *rolls eyes*

I never want to see cherries on a conveyor belt ever again! I still feel the motion of the belt and see the sea of red Attica cherries. *shakes head* It was horrible! I feel bad for anyone who has to sort cherries - or any fruit for the matter - for every day of the week, because it is their full time job. It sucks and I hate it!

Sand Ponies and Pilkas...

So if you know anything about the book series The Secrets of Droon, you would know that there is a distinct difference between the two.

For one Sand ponies only have four legs, while pilkas have six. Sand ponies live in the desert and are built for speed and heat. Pilkas live further north and have shaggy hair. They are fast, but they aren't built for the desert.

Anyways, in the newest Droon book, you run in to the Snitchers. The Rat-Faced Snitchers. Of Zoop. And these Snitchers ride Sand ponies. One particular Snitcher - the lead Snitcher for that matter - is riding a Sand pony. I mean the picture in the book even shows him on a Sand pony.

Here is what is said.

"A single Sand pony stepped forward." That's the leader (his name is Captian Plundit) confronting the main characters. The next thing you know the book is saying, "Captian Plundit stood on his pilka's saddle." And, "Even standing full height on the back of a pilka..." "The robber leader was small, but he proved to be a very good pony rider." Then later, "Plundit's Sand pony stood in the passage ahead, stamping lazily on the floor." (All of these quotes are from The Treasure of the Orkins by Tony Abbott)

Now you can see that there is a problem. *shakes head* It was a great book and that is the first mistake I have found in all 37 Droon books that are out. It caused my friend and I a lot of good laughs.

On to other non important things, I have another babysitting job (not the same girls as last year...thank goodness) and I also have a part-timeish cherry sorting job at the "family" orchard. The family I work for has an orchard that I worked in two years ago...I didn't like it. I mean there were cute guys, but you know how guys are when they are together and you are the only girl...Or maybe you don't...In other words, let's just not go there.

The oldest girl I watch actually works in the orchard for her grandfather, stacking lugs (my old job). Lugs? What are lugs you say? You know when you drive past a cherry orchard during cherry season and you see those orange box things at the bottom of the tree. Those orange box things are lugs. The pickers put the cherries in the lugs, the swamp crew weigh the lugs, then dump the lugs in to bins (those big fruit bins you see on the back of semis and at fruit sheds. Sometimes they are white or red, wood or plastic.), and I would pick up the empty lugs and stack them in stacks of 12 or 11...it depended on the year. It was loads of fun.

Seeing as the oldest girl works in the orchard, I then have to either sort cherries or watch the younger girl (both of which are loads of fun too). As you can see I'm just having fun all around!

Graduation, Hypnotists and Southern Playboy

Of the three parts of the title, I will only explain two...

Graduation:

Yes, this does mean that I have officially graduated from high school! (That means you, too, Jarvis!) YES!! I am out of that place which has caused me so much misery for the past three years...Some of it worse than others. WE'RE DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow I officially get my diploma....*does happy dance*

Hypnotists, on the other hand, are from before graduation. At the senior party we had a hypnotist and he hypnotized about fifteen of my class mates. It was the funniest thing I had ever seen. There was a part where they were told that they were on a beach and that it was getting hot, and hotter, and finally so hot that it was uncomfortable. One of the guys thought he was so hot that he started to take off his shirt, before the hypnotist told him to keep his clothes on.

I absolutely refuse to explain Southern Playboy. But it's not what you think....but don't google image it. (PLEASE don't google image it....)

12 Bobby Pins and Babies

Okay, so the title of this blog is a little stranger than usual. The 12 bobby pins reference is from this past weekend when I went to senior Prom (well duh! I'm a senior). It took 12 bobby pins and a hair clip to keep my hair up in a french twist (not to mention a ton of hair spray). I have washed my hair two times (Sunday and Monday) and I still have hair spray in my hair.

Nice picture huh? This was my hair all done up nice and pretty. I loved it. (Many thanks to Jen's Mom!)

Prom was great! I was in a gorgeous dress and I got to wear high heels, which made my about 6' tall, but that is beside the point. I had a great time with my friends and I wish that my senior year doesn't end next week.

Now, babies on the other hand is a little more strange. There is only one baby in question and that is my English teacher's baby girl that she had on April 13, 2008. She is the cutest thing ever and I got to hold her today! She is so little and so precious and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Insanity At Its Best

The title for this blog entry pretty much says it all.

First things first. I am almost done with my senior year of high school....Thank God! This year has been crazy. From advisory to our stupid senior project (one word: tri-fold) and between not having a place to eat at lunch this year has rocked! *sarcasm noted* And I even had a meltdown...In front of my whole Spanish 2 class (okay, so there are only 16 people in my Spanish class...jeez).

Second, a close family friend, who has had cancer, now has cancer in their brain. I'm praying for them but even I know the end is near. I just have to be thankful for all the good times I have spent with them.

Third, I just had the best weekend ever! My cousin was over at my grandparents house and I got to go and see her! It was so much fun. We went to Prince Caspian together and (warning!! spoiler alert) we both agreed that Susan and Caspian should not get together! And the added battle scene was totally unnecessary, even if it was awesome. Other than that the movie was great! We also spent most of Saturday night watching You Tube videos...Salad Fingers was quite interesting, but not needed, if you know what I mean.

I also introduced Twilight to my cousin and hopefully she will try and read the book and become as hooked as I now am. The only sad thing is that they aren't filming the movie in Forks...I have acutally been there and I find it a little sad that they couldn't have at least gone there for some of the movie.

My friend and I are going to see Prince Caspian tonight for only a dollar! I can't wait to see it again! It was so much fun the last time with my cousin and I really do enjoy seeing hot males on the big screen...LOL!

Thanksgiving...

I would have to say that I am thankful that I am not crazy like the rest of my family. I cannot even begin to tell about this past weekend. Good news though I finished my book review for the school news paper! And no it wasn't on Harry Potter! I wrote it on Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber, which has to be one of my newest favorites!

Just like I knew the turkey was dry and the apple pie was burnt. I don't even want to go onto what the pumpkin pie was like...Grandma forgot half the sugar...But it should be okay with a lot of cool whip. *shakes head* It never gets old.

I have now almost finished reading Crown of Swords by Robert Jordan. It is book seven in the Wheel of Time series. It took me about six months to pick it up again because chapters 10-12 were quite boring. I guess I should see how it ends...

Crazy Weekend and Robert Jordan

Wow! It doesn't feel like it should be November already. I do have to say however that Halloween was fun. I got to watch the CBS show Pushing Daisies with my friends.

Anyways, this last weekend friends from Spokane came and stayed the weekend. Now imagine two teenage boys discovering the wonders of Bop-It Extreme...*shakes head* It calls for one big head ache! Here is part of what went on:

Now doesn't that look like fun?

Now on to the second part of this wonderful post. Robert Jordan. Robert Jordan was the author of the Wheel of Time series. I say was because he passed away September 16th, without finishing the series. I do have to say that I have complete faith in who ever is finishing the book, but I hope that it will still come out in 2009. I love the books dearly and I give my condolences to the Jordan family. I want to thank Robert Jordan for the amazing job he did with his books. I know its a little late, but I only found out two weeks ago that he had passed because I don't check web sites very often, as you can tell from my blog and its sporadic posts.

This next weekend I am going to Spokane and I can't wait to see what other excitement will occur.
